I have bright red (carot/copper) natural red hair. I would like to go to a nice light brown. Any sug

I want to get the red out! I still want the color to look natural though. I don't have money to get it professionally done, so a store brand would greatly help. Thank you!

First, I would recommend that you go with a semi or demi permanent hair color. I really love Clairol Natural Instincts, it has rich color and lasts well, and doesn't have as many toxic chemicals as some of the other store brands. Also it leaves my hair healthy and not dry. Plus, since it's semi permanent, you can change the color slightly next time if you don't totally love the results!

For your shade, if you want to tone down the red, choose an "ash" tone, I would suggest either "Tweed" or "Clove" (light ash brown or medium ash brown.

Good luck :-)

i would honestly save your money so you can get it pro done. it is worth it. perhaps go to a salon school, they charge barely anything bc there are teachers supervising the students. your hair will turn out great if you do that. as for getting ALL the red out, i have the same problem and i doubt youll get it all out but u can get most of it out. if u must use a store brand, look for one with a green base.

Ok! The BEST thing to do is buy the dye from the nearest grocery store near you. You should pick it out carefully because u never want to dye your hair a whole bunch because your hair will be thin and gross. So please dont to that! haha! Ok. well just follow those directions and be careful when you choose! thanks!

Try auburn/chestnut!

I buy all my hair dye at Wal-Mart and they have really cheap stuff ($3 and $4) there. There are two different brands and it works ok. I love Feria ($10) and Preference ($8), they are about double the cost of the cheap stuff but it always seems to work better for me. There is also some sort of dye that comes in a big red box, I've never used it but it's a two step process. First you dye it all over and second you put in highlights. That might end up looking more natural for you.
