I have been dying my hair for past 18 months with perm deep red hair colour?

Its always been of the shelf permenant mix two bottles together my hair is dark brown and i would like to go to a chocolate brown with blondish hair streaks how can i do this? as i had a strand test done a few months back and it was pink. I cant wait for it to grow out or i will be totally grey on top.

best advise would to go to a salon because red is hard work to cover and the price you will be paying on all the brown dyes and then the high lighting kits it will cost you less at the salon, if you really want this style go to a salon....

You would have to get your present colour stripped out and start all over again................ some hairdressers might not want to take the risk on your hair incase they bugger it up but i would go and look for a good salon and get some expert advice.

Superdrug do a highlighter kit. You could try one of those. Or go and get it done professionally. You can buy shampoos that take the colour out to take your hair back to its natural colour.

You really have to get this done professionally. Red hair is awful to get out, and the more you try the worse damage you will cause to your hair - or the more hideous the colour you'll end up with. Professionals have the right products to strip the colour out properly before re-introducing new colour. Hope it looks nice.

Your best bet is to dye it dark brown (It probably take a couple of goes to cover all the red) but it should come out a nice brown then you can add on that because of the red it will go the colour you want but it will be slighlty darker.

But the highlights once added should counter act that and you will have your hair the colour your want.
