Your hair is already dark dark red I do not think it going to look like highlights bk. your hair is already red it going to look like you colored your hair. it not going to look good at all.try a different color. try blond instead of light red high lights.your red highlights are not going to show up.

It's sounds like you have a really tough colouring problem on your hands. For the very best results call a local hair salon and make an appointment with their lead colourist. Make sure you tell them you are setting up an appointment for "Colour Correction". Depening on the length of your hair it may cost anywhere from $85 dollars (US) to $200 dollars (US).

If you think this is something that you would like to try to correct at home (not recommended) you need to call the colour experte hotline on the back of the box you originally coloured your hair with. If you don't have the box you can go online and look it up. Once you get on the phone with a colour experte then make sure you tell him/her that you are looking to correct the problem. They can walk you through the steps to make your hair natural again.

Color Law

Color WILL NOT LIFT color, no matter how many times you try it or what brand you use. You MAY see a SLIGHT difference if the proxide developer is hight enough (30-40) but you MUST use lightner to lift the unwanted pigment out of your hair, otherwise you are only causing damage everytime you apply it.

I would suggest you see a professional, and let them lift it out and redeposite the desired tones back in, you will be much happier with the results and your hair will be a lot healthier.

PS It's NOT DYE, it's color...DYE is for clothes.

If you bleached your hair, there's no getting over it, you can just add color over it, if you colored your hair, try baking soda and water, in a paste, see if that helps, and I would defintely try to make an appointment. The baking soda may lift it enough, but there's no telling. Do not add color over it, otherwise, it'll mess the color up.
