I'm thinking of getting a new look. I have blonde hair at the moment (I alwas dye it blonde coz I prefer it to brown). If I was to dye it red, would I have to wait for it to grow out? Or would the colour go if I was to dye it blonde again??
Is it a better idea to get one of them temporary colours that wash out after a few days??
Any extra advise on dyeing hair red would be helpfull, coz I know people can get their hair in a mess from dyeing it red then not being able to get the colour back out.
Thanks!!!
Dying hair red???
i would just try it temporarily and then if you like it dye your hair red permantly

Red heads are scandalous. And horny. So, if you're horny, go ahead, die it red!
Dying hair red???
no
Dying hair red???
it might turn out a bit orange if you don't put enough of either color you choose to dye it.

I would use a temporary rinse at first. Loving Care is kind of temporary. It won't rinse out, but it washes out after awhile.
May be a little harder to wash out going from blonde to red.
If you use a permanent dye, the only way to get back your original color will be to bleach it, and that destroys your hair.
You could let it grow out and just keep putting a temporary red on the roots until it grows out. But it will take a long time.
Better make sure it's the color you want.
Dying hair red???
I was an original brunette but now my hair is red. The person who dyed it for me said you can dye it back to the original color any time. And if you use good dye, it won't wash out for years.

If you don't want to keep it red and you don't want to let it grow out, your best bet is temporary color.
Dying hair red???
If already have colored/lightened your hair it really would be best to let a professional dye your hair red. The stuff from the store will dry out and damage you hair and the color will fade.
Dying hair red???
if you dye it red you can dye it blonde again you will just have to dye it a few times.
Dying hair red???
I am a natural blonde and dyed my hair permanent(Level 3) red and it will not come out. Professional stripping still left red in my hair so I suggest using temporary so you're not stuck with a color you're bored with. It also depends on how porous your hair is. Did it take 25 minutes to achieve blonde(average porous) or 15 minutes(extremely porous)?
Dying hair red???
Definitely try temporary first. I streaked mine red and the upkeep is ridiculous. It fades within a few weeks, so you have to keep going to the salon. It gets expensive and is really damaging.
Dying hair red???
You can go red and if you don't like it you can easily go back to pure blonde within a month. I did exactly what you described last winter. I went from blonde to red (loved it but red is harder to keep) and went back to blonde for the summer. I loved the red but it was more work so I switched back to blonde. Also, think about your skin tone because not everyone can pull off red hair.
Dying hair red???
I have dark blonde hair and I usually dye it blonde. My roots were showing pretty bad and my hubby wanted me to try dark brown, so we did. By mistake, we grabbed the wash out stuff, when normally I do permanent. Well thank goodness we did, because instead of dark brown hair, I got bright red hair. Because I was going in the pool as well as showering, the color came out in about 3 weeks or so. I would recommend to you that you try the wash out stuff first, that way if you don't like it as much as you thought you would, you don't have to suffer long. And if you do like it, you can easily pick a similar permanent color in a few weeks.

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
if you are blond now, don't dye it yourself...it can end up crayon red or orange....that happened to a Friend of mine. ...
I don't think you can go back to blond unless it grows out...but I'm not sure of that...just don't over process your hair...
Maybe you should go to a wig shop and try on some red wigs and see how you like it (take a friend along for a honest opinion)...maybe even buy one and see how people react to the red haired you for a few days....just make sure you don't get a wig that looks like a wig if you're gonna get one...
Dying hair red???
I am a real blond and dye my hair blond so I know about this dyeing your hair red from blonde business. I used to do this a few years back. Believe me when I tell you you do not want to use light shades of red on blond hair - unless you want flaming bright orange hair. If you want a natural looking red hair then buy a dark auburn red. You have to go much darker than what you want because it will wash out very quickly and turn a lighter shade of red in about 1 or 2 weeks. Red dyes wash out quicker than any other permanent hair dyes. I think temp dyes are a waste of money - they wash out in a week and promise about a month. So, go with the dark auburn. If you don't take my advice and get flaming orange hair then you will have to dye your hair brown to tame it down and risk the chance of your hair turning purple or green. Then you will need a professional to step in.
Good Luck.
Dying hair red???
A lot depends on how damaged your hair is already from dying it to blonde. If it isn't too bad then go to a professional and have them do it if it is bad then DON'T DO IT. I say this because even temporary colour can cause a problem in damaged hair. The base colour can "grab" the damage and not come out. And permanent colour can take more in damaged areas making colour uneven and spotty. even stripping hair of colour may not fix it and red is the hardest to get out if it screws up.
If you really want red grow out the blonde then do it. Or go buy a red wig and wear it a while to make sure it is what you want before you do something you may regret.

http://www.hairfinder.com/hair_imaging.h... is a good place to look... it lets you see a virtual hair style/ color.
Personally i tried dying my hair red with the washout stuff and a year and a half later you can still see it XD my mother hates it but i love it!
Dying hair red???
i wouldn't do the temporary colours cause they don't come out as nice. you want your hair to look natural. I did this once and did not like how it came out.
Instead, go to a hair salon, a one that you know is good with colour. make sure you choose the exact right shade for your face. if you look good in blonde, mabe go for a light shade of red, like strawberry. that would also make it easier to dye back to blonde if you have to. (though It's probably better to let it grow before going blonde again)
Good luck!
