Why does my hair turn red?

My natural hair color is dark brown..

Like 2 years ago I died my hair red but got tired of it in 6 months and died it back to brown, but like in a week my hair was red again...so I have been dying my hair numerous times this past 2yrs, but my hair always turns red...also I bleached my tips platinum blonde, but instead they look ugly yellow....what can I do so my hair can look dark brown without any red tints , and my tips platinum blonde?

Stop dying your hair! You're basically killing it. Lay off the dyes, take a few showers and in a few months or weeks your hair color should be normal again. By the way, my sister's hair is blonde (and has never dyed her hair in her life), but whenever she goes to the pool (high chlorine content) her hair turns into a reddish-brown. If your tap water has a high chlorine content, that might be why your hair keeps turning red. Try using water filters or newer showerheads (with water filters) that will filter out most of the chlorine. I hope this helps.

Good luck!

It is just because you are dying it, it really doesn't have anything to do with the fact that before it was dyed red. If you bleach dark hair it goes through a red/orangy phase because red coloring is in all dark hair. Well when hair dye fades it starts to get redish tints. So that is why some hair dye brags long lasting color, because it takes longer to fade, although it wouldn't matter really because you have to dye your roots. But that is also why when you touch up your roots you leave it in your roots for about 20 minutes(or however long the directions say) and then put it on the rest of your hair for the remaining time you would leave it in for a full head treatment. It's just to touch up fading because it will hapen. Same with the tips. Platinum blonde, when not dyed every 3-4 weeks, turns a wierd peachy color. The only way to fix it is to touch them up with bleach which may be risky because you may end up with bigger platinum tips, but as longs as you're carful, and have someone help you with the back, it should be fine. Good luck with your hair.
